Crows!!!

Are crows a protected species in Oz? Someone told me this the other day (albeit after many many beers) and I'm a little surprised? There's bloody tons of the blighters, surely they're not protected.
I also ask because hubby has taken to firing plastic pellets at the crows, minors and magpies that land in our garden for attacking our cat
So ... true or not?

They aren't protected but I am not sure that means you can shoot them.

Are you sure they are crows? It's more likely they are Australian ravens. There are indeed lots and lots of them. Read here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Raven

Don't worry he doesn't shoot to kill, he just fires near them to scare them off. A neighbour told us hanging crow (raven) feathers in your garden will scare them off because they will think one died there??
Thanks for that though!

Nice... a thread about killing cats.
So I guess my idea for a thread about Dogs in a wood chipper isn't such a bad idea then

I doubt our two cats could be arsed to go outside and hunt. Too much like hard work, they much prefer to sit around and order us about.
