Today's Google Doodle celebrates the 140th anniversary of the 1st test match:

Interestingly, I just read that that the 1st international cricket match was between the USA and Canada

Did Smith look to the dressing room before calling?

 No, he decided to score his 19th century, 5,000 runs and add a couple to his 60+ test average by remaining not out on 178. Looking very much like a draw with only 2 days to go unless quick fall of Indian wickets, rapid scoring by Aussies and collapse by India or last 4 wickets for India add a huge number of runs and Australia collapse cheaply.

The answer to why the young Aussie bowlers break down (Starc) is so that young Aussie bowlers who have broken down (Cummins) can come back and bowl mightily impressively.;)

That would be the assumed result from here. I guess you missed the England v India series. See 4th test. Needs a major pitch breakdown for that. And that is very possible.

Well done South Africa for whipping NZ inside 3 days. 🤗

India v Oz is boring now. Can't really see a win in this match. :(

I agree - and this pitch was supposed to be a massive boost for India

Yes, a great win - especially after NZ were all over SA on day 1. They crumbled like a wet tissue in their 2nd innings - so much for NZ's supposed 'resilience'

India gets a tidy lead and spins Australia out on day 5 wicket. ...... definately possible. ..... this is not over yet I feel.

I don't think so. Australia's 2 spinners - who have both proven that they can be effective in India - are not getting wickets today. So the same would apply to India

Oz will need to collapse really badly for that to happen on that pitch.

My money is on a draw.

No, I saw every test in the England series; we have a thing called BT Sport and Sky Sport believe it or not and every test involving A, E, I, SA, NZ, SL, Pak gets shown in full. A pitch breakdown is not looking likely, nor is India scoring runs quickly enough for other than a likely draw now.
