Default Council dog tag

Registered the dog with Brisbane council and recieved a blue tag. It says this tag must be on the dog at all times outside the house and to soak it in hot water to make it easier to put on.
The question is, is this supposed to go on the collar? It will drive her nuts, she can barely stand the collar.
Can you just stick it on the leash?

You put it on the collar. Loop it through at the front. It's invaluable - our dogs hated queensland storms and got out a couple of times. To get that call from the council saying your dog is safe, go pick it up from this address is a major relief - you need it on all the time.

Can't you just get them chipped? Heard on the news the other day about a dog that went missing for 9 years, and had got from Melbourne to Adelaide (or the other way round maybe?) - 1200 miles, and had been reunited with its owners because of the chip...

Though I suppose it's easy to get a new tag if you move house.....

Thanks. She will chew it to bits though. I may staple it to the small of her back.

Ours were chipped too, but if someone finds them and phones the council from home, they can identify the dog straight away without having to take them somewhere to have the chip located and scanned.

If you hang the tag right under her chin on the collar, she shouldn't be able to get her head down there to chew it.

She is still scratching the collar and it spins like a top! She will get used to it I guess but hopefully before she has chewed it too much to read
Thought with chipping we would have belts and braces. Thanks guys, all good advice.

Question?

If your dog is chipped here in the UK, do you have to take the original chip out to have a new Oz one put in...or does the dog have 2 chips in place?

Just wondering....

If it is a Scottish dog a chip on each shoulder is not only acceptable but positively desired......

Just a guess, but I'd say you would be able to use the same chip because we had ours done when we were thinking of heading off to the UK for a couple of years - it's on of the requirements under the "pets program".

It took them 9 years to find the chip, finding the tag might be quicker

That's all well and good . . . but what if your dog doesn't like hot water . . . and how hot is 'hot'? . . . my little shitzu is quivering with fear as I type . . .
