Yep that's the thing though the $186.62 + vat would be better spent at the pub rather in some fat cat companies bank account

I had this once in the UK mate.
They were charging me a friggin fortune due to the meter readers figure.
I phoned up customer support who said we would have to go through a 30 day period of test reading the meter every day to see if the meter was okay.

I thought about it and phoned half a day later. Got a different guy who immediately said "ah, the old dial meter problem. What's the correct figure please". He took my reading and adjusted the bill. He said the mechanical dials don't always line up exactly and that causes the issue.

Arrange to pay it in 3 monthly instalments, by the time you get to the last one you'll have a better idea

Appreciate the idea Wendy but the actual payment isn't a problem thankfully i just don't like paying things before they're due. What witha couple of weeks holidays coming up and hopefully $180 credit note the January one will seem a pittance I shall therefor await the Fuhrer arriving home and then BE TOLD what I have to do

I'm going to revise my earlier 91872 to 90872.

If it were 1872 then that fourth dial from the right (which represents the thousand-ths) would be close to the 2 (thousand mark), but it isn't it is close to the 1 (thousand) mark, therefore it must be 0872 not 1872.

I bloody hate these meters. Even though I read and re-read the instructions online I still seem to get a different figure.

The "smart meters" are easier, as they have a digital output - works just fine for us.

90871 for sure because the 0 will only become 1 when the next dial completes it's full circle (the one that is on 8 now)
