The Cornish Liberation Army

Re: The Cornish Liberation Army
Heard on the news federal police are trying to locate the Australian fundraising arm of the organisation. Seems Queensland is where they are concentrating their search on. Bank a/c's with a total of 47cents have been sized. Suspect is not to be approached. Not that he is dangerous or anything just he is not to be approached.
They are currently going through his computer and shifting through 15000 + posts he has made. Top code breakers have been brought in as the posts ,made on a well known forum for expats, make no sense at all. The believe they are dealing with either a genius or a complete headcase. they are erring on the latter at the moment.

When much of the local money comes from tourism, and there's little local industry other than that, then it seems rather like shooting yourself in the foot.

Re: The Cornish Liberation Army
Stories like this reinforce the jolly chat everyone had about English/Scottish/Welsh nationalism the other day.
What was the name of that Welsh group - 'Sons of ... somethingorother' that went around burning down the holiday homes of wealthy English people?
A group calling itself the Cornish National Liberation Army (CNLA) threatened to burn down one of Stein's businesses in Padstow and declared the cars of his customers legitimate targets. The group said Fifteen - a restaurant set up by Oliver to help disadvantaged Cornish youngsters find a career in catering - was also in its sights, and branded the chef an "incomer" who was hurting local people by driving up house prices and living costs.

What's interesting is the English reaction to this at the time (Not the Nine O'Clock News - Come home to a real fire, buy a cottage in Wales**), and the English reaction now that the "rich" Londoners are setting up second homes in their part of the country.
I must admit that when I was living in London I did my best to deny Castles to a few Englishmen
** I'm not saying it wasn't funny.

I spend quite a bit of time in Cornwall (parents live there) and am always a bit surprised to see that often the English Heritage logo on those brown signs that point out tourist places etc, have been sprayed over, and the grafiti says 'Go home English'....

They are obviously just plain stupid (sorry Bix) I used to live in a lovely town in Herts, only 25 miles out of London. During the 80's and 90's the stuck up London arseholes decided to go country but couldn't manage further than us. No way could any locals afford to live there anymore.
Second home owners were buying up swathes of Cornwall long before Jamie Oliver came along.
