OK, now i understand why you live here, thanks.
[QUOTE=eddie007;9957436]The reason some people dont fit into uk living is they have neither the wit nor the intellect to be able to engage with the British on a level playing field... Its a serious handicap in many sad cases... Causes dummy spitting and pram toy throwing.. Not very English..

Yes but fortunately it isnt a problem here, it is merely slightly annoying.
Both this article in The Age and this article in Business Day say copper theft is a global problem and happens here in Australia. It was happening here before the GFC too.

You are quite right NB, I definitely was not referring to Eds (unless she too is stalking me, albeit secretly).
I accept banter and it can be fun and a good way to waste an evening. What is not fun is the stalker who pops up everytime to tell me that nothing about the UK is crap even when
Sometimes I feel I am trapped in a Monty Python sketch. Anyone for an argument?

- I have not said anything of the sort
- I live there, and the other person doesn't
- Whatever I post about becomes an instant 'it's so much worse in Australia

Here we go again...
Coronation street... Proof positive that UK TV is far far superior to australian...
Actually, reduced to normal australian TV I begin to see the positives on spending thousands and thousands of dollars uprooting my very well settled, integrated, adapted bogan family back to the uk immediately
Unfortunately the kids would obvioulsy struggle turning to the uk educational system...
And the NHS who spent tens of thousands of pounds training me, then enhancing my nursing degree my nurse practitioner qualification at their expense.. Wouldnt have a job for me... Unless things have changed in the nhs in the last 5 years???

i work on building sites, have done all my life and can tell you it is much much worse in the u.k for metal theft
there is a simple reason for this though
in the u.k you can just rock up with whatever metals and however much you have no questions asked and paid in cash to you
over here if you take any scrap metal in to MOST places ( here in vic anyway ) you have to give them your ABN , and yes they do check it
no ABN then they tax you @ 40% for it, therefore making it not worthwhile
they have talked about trialing a similar system in the u.k but there has been uproar as smaller metal dealers will go out of business as people will just go to the next town
if they did it like it is done over here it would go down very very quickly as there are professional outfits doing this for a living now

....and the (huge) delay to my train service this morning was most definitely not due to cable theft.
Those TfL announcers are all liars. They just tell us 'cable theft' to keep us commuters from rioting.

All trains going north from brisbane were cancelled for a while this evening, they just said it was a "fault on the line" .... not specifying whether the cables were still there or whether the fault was that they were missing

in Vic the trains are more likely to be delayed by accidents at level crossings and suicide attempts rather than cable theft
