Hi we would like to here from anyone who has experienced the climate of both Perth and Brisbane and if you could let us know your opinions on how hotter etc one is compared to the other as we are hearing conflicting stories and would like to here your experiences. We prefer Perth but there seems lots more work for me in Brisbane.
Thanks

This is quite a good site: http://www.wunderground.com/ and this is the official one: http://www.bom.gov.au/
I tend to use the first more because it's easier for me to understand and navigate

We are down on the GC and arrived late November. Yes it got hot (according to the natives it got very hot
) but we were all fine. Two girls 13 and 11 - none of us were aware of dreadful weather, it was wonderful and we were fully expecting to suffer loads because of the difference between leaving UK early winter and arriving here early summer.May be we get on better than others in hot weather but I can't tell, because I don't know how others would feel if they were living our lives - does that make sense

The kids will adapt more quickly than you and mine never notice the heat, however my youngest is now insisting on long trousers as he's cold even though we were down the beach at the weekend and everybody else was in shorts, hes a true blue aussie kid now. Brisbane is the best climate, don't worry about the humidty it doesn't last long a good storm soon gets rid of it, why go to the cold when you can live in the warm!!! Saying that the nights during the winter months can be a bit cold around 8-9 in the depths of August but the days are so PERFECT.

I see people on here sometimes claiming that in summer its too hot to do anything. Not sure what that means really, the heat has never stopped us from doing anything - apart from perhaps running around outside in the sun in the middle of the day
. Sure if it's a really hot day I wouldnt send the kids out to play cricket or run a marathon at midday or go out to do 3 hrs mowing or something, but that doesnt mean you cant do anything
. There are some days that it gets hot & you tend to laze around drinking rather than doing anything energetic, but then that's the Qld lifestyle when it's hot really. Our boys do plenty of stuff in summer, the heat affects them alot less than the cold in winter does.As for Perth being a better option, not sure if you know, but Perth actually gets much hotter weather than Brisbane in summer, over 40 is quite normal in Perth, don't think we hit 40 at anytime this summer in Brisbane (not including western suburbs & Ipswich in those igures, it regularly gets to 40 over that way poor buggers!). We probably average 1 or 2 days in a summer of that sort of heat, unlike Perth which, I believe, can get weeks of it. Difference is the humidity - Brisbane is subtropical so is more humid, Perth is a drier heat.
Different strokes for different folks

Perth.
Only been here 2 years
first summer...hot over 35 for 3 - 5 days a handful of times in 04/05
this summer. nothing was a cooler summer.
Really the difference between the 2 is in the humidity factor.
Perth is dry, Brissy is Humid.
Winter however, as Renth mentioned is freezing overnight.
Thats where the good ole wood burner stove comes to use.
