Clothes for the fuller figured lady

Husband, Baby & I are planning to move to Oz later this year and I was just wondering what the Plus size clothing situation in Oz is.

The reason I ask is the last time I lived in Oz was back in 1995 and I remember it being pretty bad and not really being able to buy anything other than surf/skate tshirts!!! - & I wasnt even very fat then either.:(
Now 13 years have past and apparently the world is getting fatter - has this impacted in Oz yet and are there many places you can buy decent larger sized, remotely fashionable, ladies clothes (and not something your Nan would wear)

Have Target and KMart always been in Oz and I just forgot or are they a recent addition?

All I remember is woolworths, Coles and I think there was a dept store called Mears in the centre of Perth opposite the post office, and then there were basically 2 pedestrianised strips of shops, oh and there was like a small mall type affair with a massive food court.
mmm its all coming back to me!

Autograph are another clothing store for plus sizes.

I thought life would be easier in Oz than in Skinny Singapore where a 4 is readily available but a 14 is not, but on my recent trip I had a quick nosey round Myers and noticed a lot of the ranges stop at 14. :(

I'm usually a large 14 or a small 16; plus size range 16s are often too big for me. Am I going to have to work harder at the gym? Or just buy up M&S and Top Shop before I leave Sg? (Not easy when I need some warmer clothes.)

I sound about the same size as you. I find Target size 16 too big - but Sussan go up to a size 16 and they are fine and not too old-fashioned!! I can just get into their 14s, but it's not a pretty sight (need to loose another inch or two!!).

Excellent, thanks - I've noticed Sussan but not been in one. I'll have to have a look.

I am, of course, also full of good intentions to get back to the gym 3 times a week (have slipped terribly due to all the packing up mallarkey) and also walk miles once I get off this sweaty island.

I am a UK 16 and found loads of stuff in y size ( and above ) in Myers. A good example is Tommy Hilfiger - there I am a size 12 ( ok.. they do US sizes but hell!!) Also Country Road are good, Sussan etc etc... I actually think theres a better choice of different stuff in larger sizes here, better than your run of the mill M&S tshirts...:D

Over the last few years I have been lucky enough to have been to the USA with my job a couple of times a year so I have bought most of my clothes from there - the trouble is that I am not just a fatty but I am very tall too and I find that most UK stores seem to be under the impression that if you are a large size you are also short too!!
In the USA however everything pretty much fits me fine there.
I would need about a UK size 20, do any of the stores mentioned above stock above 16?

You see and I have the complete opposite experience. I am short and I find that Evans and the like think that everyone is 5ft 8 when in reality I am sub 5ft!

Autograph do 20 and above as do Target and Big W. Rockmans also have a range of clothes for the larger lady.
