Clearing Customs
With us about to get quotes from various shipping agencies and thoughts about what to pack & what to leave behind, the cleanliness of this item and the cleanliness of that, I was just wondering...has anyone ever had anything refused clearance at customs if so what was it and what was the reasoning behind the refusal...????

Re: Clearing Customs
A few people have recieved bills fron AQIS because of stuff that has been destroyed or treated (they give you the option first if possible and doesnt pose an immidiate threat).
Usually, it's stuff with mud or grass on, beads, seeds anything that can pose a risk to Aussie flora or agriculture. Some stuff has got through fine, others havent, baskets are another thing to be careful of as they dont know exactly what they are made of or where it has come from or if it contains any hidden dangers (insects or seeds inside the leaves themselves).
Anything rusty, muddy, grassy, anything that has been outside (even if it just in your garden), shoes (clean/replace soles and heels). If there is anything labled food or misc - usually gets the full works and going over with a fine toothcomb.
