Christmas Lights...

Right I've brought 3 kms of lights over from the UK (obviously).
Do they go up? If so, when do they go up?
Be a waste not to use them. Any (reasonable) suggestions please.

Quite a few are up already but they tend to be the ones going in for the council competitions for best displays. Any time from now is good. I've got to buy a new lot this year as Tiddler has had the current lot hooked up around her bedroom all year and won't give them up.

I hate over the top displays with blow up santas. Much prefer a tasteful and discreet display, unless it is for a good cause that is. I don't put up outside or inside lights other than a white set for the tree which will go up once term finishes. At least I won't blow the budget for the electric bill.(Doing my bit to save the planet!!)

Here they have had them up over a week i am not putting mine up until i have moved which isnt till the 14th december
So i will be behind by a lot
In Mackay they had a competition of who had the best lights feel abit sad as will miss it this year
so to compensate we are going to the Hunter Valley Lights spectacular
Opps forgot i would just start putting them up if everyone else is. (pics please when done as 3 km thats a fair bit of lighting)

It's not literally 3kms but sure looked like it when we unpacked. Probably won't light up much of this place.

We shall see.

Complete hijacking of the thread... sorry Alf!
Anyone know if there's a website that list's the houses (North Brisbane) in the competitions so I can take the kids to see them?

Probably not listed until the council in question has announced the winners. Then they should be listed on the council website or in the local rag.
