I think I went there a few years ago when I was here on a trip - very nice it was, too. Long walk back to the ferry after one or several sav blancs though

Thanks all,

I think we're going to go low key with a posh picnic on Balmoral or Manly Beach.

Alas a long restaurant lunch/brunch or fine dining experience would be wasted on us, given that one of our party will not sit still for more than 2 minutes and often favors regurgitated food !

Merry Christmas !

x

Taronga Zoo is open as normal on Christmas Day and there are loads of lovely picnic spots in the grounds.

We stayed home last year as the weather wasn't good enough for anything else. Go to Manly- there is a great beach- shelley beach- which is good for littlies, but it may be very crowded. Avoid Bondi at all costs- overcrowded and like a bad version of Blackpool. Northern beaches are good, but many of them can be quite rough surf. Narrabeen has a kids playground and salt pool at one end as do many of the others. Palm Beach is good but may not have anywhere to eat as it is very popular, so best bet is a picnic.

Whatever you decide to do, have a great Christmas. Perhaps all those expats who are going to the beaches should have a badge so people can have the chance to meet and greet?!
