And when someone from the real world turns up, like Turnbull, the career politicians get annoyed and dump them. The worst thing about the politicians at the top is they needed to fight the politics of the party to get there. The current system breeds career politicians.

Thanks guys, great comments and so bloody right re mediocre politicians worldwide. Wonder why inspirational leaders are non existant these days
Seems like overwhelmingly everyone so far reckons carbon Tax is a revenue earner and a big waste of time - so how come it's got through this far?
And...will it get passed to the next level d'ya reckon?

No, I think that she genuinely believes that she is acting in the best interests of the country, and I think this is what is infuriating the electorate - that she just isn't listening to what they are telling her - she is obdurately determined to push through with her agenda irrespective of the wishes of the people.
To my mind of thinking, the CO2 tax seems to be more of a money-go-round than anything else, and suspiciously does have a large element of wealth re-distribution involved in it. I'm not saying that this is her primary motivation, but it seems odd that there is more focus on the 'compensation' involved in the scheme than there is in the actual investment in new technology. With all the money raised going back out of the door, there will be precious little left for green investment.
And also there are a lot of greenhouse gas producing industries that just aren't covered by it at all - agriculture for example, which is a massive producer of methane, a gas which is proven to be worse than CO2 in its greenhouse effect. So here we seem to have a taxation system that only really deals with a fraction of the problem, and yet seems to be more about the compensation and re-distribution of money.
I would have preferred a model where more tax cuts and rewards were given to companies that make an effort to reduce their environmental impact, and where it was clear that any money raised would be going straight back into green investment. Instead, the only people that are likely going to benefit from this scheme are traders and banks who have just been granted a whole new trading platform to screw up
As for Julia, she is in way over her head IMHO. I think that she thought it would be easy to be PM, but has found that she is lacking in two things that really are required - authority and leadership.

That's what really gets me about it - to be skeptical or unsure means you are automatically wrong and at fault. Maybe the science IS 100% solid but to label those who hold a differing view as fundamentally flawed and somehow deficient is very poor.
The Greens' love of Climate Action is a convenient cover for the hard-left constituents to get their agenda acted out - bugger the membership who a genuine concern; they will be trampled in the rush for power.

To be a "denier" [oh how I love that phrase with it's implicit tie to holocaust deniers] gets you treated no better than a kiddie-fiddler now. At this rate, "deniers" will be burned at the stake for heresy.

You don't hear about Lord Monckton receiving death threats, do you? Or being called a Nazi?
It's funny, because I have never attributed the term "denier" to the holocaust. The only people who ever bring this link up seem to be the deniers themselves, I assume in an attempt to cast aspersions on their opposition and cry foul play.

It's hardly surprising that 'deniers', petrol heads and those having loads of kids might piss some people off. Their refusal to take action has a negative impact on everyone's future.

MMGW ain't happening so no need for any 'tax' (aka socialist wealth redistribution levy).
