Hello!
We are in a great position,we were granted our visas May 11th and then our house sold 2 weeks ago,
the problem is we can't decide where to live!! which is pretty important !
We have researched so much (too much ,i think) and now we are at a standstill. The places so far have been: Bunbury,WA, Rockingham and outer suburbs of Perth and Mornington Peninsula,Vic and outer suburbs of Melbourne ( opposite sides of Oz,I know!!!) we are going crazy .
There are 6 of us to make considerations for, me (zoe),hubby, 4 sons aged 15,9,7 & 1 and my husband is a Bricklayer, good schools and a nice community are our main criteria , we would really appreciate any ideas on good places to live in Australia (we are open to all states!!)
THANKS

hello!...i personaly have never been to Perth...however..i know plenty of people who have..and i have never met one yet who disliked Perth. It is a constance of a destination for aussies on the east coast, so it certainly has something attracting about it, and everyone i know has always wanted to go back!
Beautiful beaches...great climate...lovely city. Of course there is always some down sides to anywhere and everywhere..and each persons experience is different....i would say follow what your intuition is telling you...and go for it.!
I would love to go to Perth! has been a dream of mine for a longggg time....
all the best~

Ive spent a lot of time in Syndey, Melbourne and Perth and they are all great but Perth is my favourite, which is why we will be moving there in the next couple of months. Its just got everything sydney has got but on a smaller, freindlier and less expensive scale, ideal for a family i would say.
If you were more into nightlife and sports then Melbourne would be the place to go.

I worked there for 14 months (thankfully didnt live there) and trust me its a very depressing place.
Some of the suburbs around it arent too bad (secret harbour, Shoalwater etc) but still pretty soulless and the facilites are crap. You really have to go up to Perth to get decent shops, restaurants, nightclubs.
If you're going to WA go anywhere but Rockingham.
