I am due to start teaching in WA at the start of the 4th term (Mid Oct this year).
I am looking for some general comments about life as a teacher in Oz or more specifically WA.
Things I would be interested in hearing about are things like
Basics - like what teachers wear, school lunches, etc.
After school clubs or activities. What is expected of teachers, any choices, things worth looking for.
Career progression – what should I be making sure I do or keep records of.
School disciple and classroom management – what sanctions are used and are effective
Any classic mistakes or wrong assumptions that UK teachers make
Or anything else that you think I might find interesting.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

I have signed up with the Dept of Education WA. The exact location is not yet known. It will be somewhere in the sticks like Port Hedland. It's all part of the great adventure.
I just wanted another idea of teaching in OZ.

Would love to kow the answer to these too! Am going in July and hope to land a job for start of term 4 in Melbourne. Had to get job offers to get sponsorship and I did! I think that from what I can gather from telephone interviews, most systems are very similar.
