The below is based on my own opinion wearing TM Lewin plus a little bit of googling at the time I also asked about shirts. I disagree with some popular sentiment and give my reasons.
Agreed. They get my vote for the time being at the price. If they were not on permanent sale then I'd would consider the likes of Harvie and Hudson or a better Jermyn Street brand. I get the St James collar - a cutaway in slim fit - or the Windsor - a spread collar with the slim fit. I first bought some about 15years ago and they were better then - but will still now outperform any shirt bought in the Australian high street. They are on a broad equivalent with M&S - but with more choice in the collar cut and fit.
Criticism: Shrinkage - TM Lewin - I wash them on cold for 15 minutes to prevent shrinkage and wear. For the money I can't see past them for the time being. As for being hard to iron - I can only suggest people turn the iron on next time they press their shirt. They all pass muster with the Missus.
Agreed - at the price, they are better than anything you can get in Australia - and really, a TM Lewin shirt is still cheaper than Target, or say Van Heusen at Myer at a similar dollar price. I did have a brief flirtation with some shirts at David Jones and decided they were all crap - or the ones that had saving graces were well over $150.
Alot of my experience comes from purchases of 15-20 years ago but the product has changed and is made in China. I have a beautiful white shirt for interviews by Pink which I bought some 12 years ago but I suspect they have gone downhill.
I believe that Charles *****wit shirt collars are fused. 'Big fail'. TM Lewins are not. I don't like the collars on CF.
I was tempted - maybe next time. Are the collars fused? I wasn't sure of the collar angles in their spread/cutaway option. I like something between the two.
As for suits. I am tempted to get a few suits from TM too. A floating chest piece..a nice lining - and 2 for $800! Just for daily hacks, of course.
Onshore I am looking at MJ Bale and Herringbone.
I went into a store in Bayside and couldn't believe the flimsy fabrics on offer on their $600 jackets. Shocking. I miss the 12oz+ wools made in England 20 years ago. It's all gone to effing China!

I've just received today my first shirt from Pickashirt.com
As per my username, I have quite broad shoulders and long arms, meaning that cuffs generally end up around my elbows if I bend my arms in a normal fitting shirt.
You can pick all the measurements of the shirt to the last detail. I just got a really nice herringbone white business shirt for $60 with postage. Considering that I normally pay $200 for my shirts I am pretty damn happy with the quality from pickashirt.

Can someone point me to a tailored hi-viz retailer?
I'd like a cheeky off the shoulder number that is suitable for work but can convert into evening wear.

It was enough to put me off them for life. I'm prepared to be laid back about these things but there are standards.

I have been exclusively buying Herringbone shirts to date. For me, they are the best high street shirts available. The only problem I have with them is that they don't quite fit my arm length, although it is not as bad as most non-fitted shirts. They can be quite pricey too

I'm thinking of ordering a few shirts from either T.M. Lewin (www.tmlewin.co.uk - they also have a .com.au site) and/or Charles Trywhitt (www.ctshirts.co.uk). Preference is for the former as they have the neck/sleeve length combination that I'm after while the latter will charge 8.95GBP to alter sleeve length beyond their standard offerings.
Has anyone here purchased from either of the two? Any opinions on the two with regards to their quality, or any other "Jermyn Street" tailors that offer a good value?
FWIW, I love shirts with a nice stiff collar, and crisp cuffs.

There's not many things I am particular about!
I was thinking of buying some of the above for my wife.
