Bushfire Status
Large bushfire - Thornlands -
Queensland Fire and Rescue Service is advising residents in the Thornlands area to prepare to enact their bushfire plans.
Large grassfire - Brisbane Valley Highway - Biarra - Residents are being asked to enact their bushfire plans
www.emergency.qld.gov.au
Severe fire weather/fire bans
The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast severe grassland and forest fire danger today for the Darling Downs and Granite Belt district. Temperatures of up to 42 degrees with relative humidity down to 15% and NW to NE winds to 30 km/h are expected.
The continuation of dangerous fire conditions has prompted the introduction of a fire ban across the whole of the local Government areas of Toowoomba, Southern Downs, Western Downs and Goondiwindi.
Queensland Fire and Rescue Service has also extended the fire bans in the Local Government areas of Rockhampton, Banana, Gladstone, Bundaberg, North Burnett, Fraser Coast, Cherbourg and Gympie.
A local fire ban also remains in force for parts of the Local Government areas of Whitsunday (in those parts of the shire previously within the Bowen Shire) and South Burnett (in those parts of the shire previously within the Wondai and Murgon shires).
Fire bans will remain in place for these Local Government areas until midnight on Monday 14 December.
The Rural Fire Service has put a ban on the lighting of all fires in the above Local Government areas, including permit fires as a precaution with high, and at times extreme, conditions expected to continue.

Re: Bushfire Status - Queensland
The Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) is advising residents in the vicinity of Boundary Road near Korsman Drive to enact their bushfire plans.
At 1.45pm a large bushfire was located off Boundary Road at Thornlands. The large, fast moving fire is travelling in a north easterly direction and is currently impacting the areas off Boundary Road near Korsman Drive and TrundleRoad.
Residents are advised to be prepared to relocate to a safer area if required.
Well prepared and defended homes can offer safety during the fire and may be defendable.
Currently, five fire crews are working to contain the blaze but firefighters may not be able to protect every affected property and residents should not expect a firefighter at their door.
Residents are advised to call Triple Zero (000) if their property comes under threat.
TIME TO IMPACT LESS THAN TWO HOURS
Residents should consider taking precautionary measures including:
• Put on protective clothing
• Drink lots of water
• Move car/s to a safe location
• Close windows and doors and shut blinds
• Bring pets inside and restrain them (leash, cage or secure room) and provide water
• Wet down fine fuels close to buildings
• Remove garden furniture, doormats and other items
• Seal all gaps under doors and screens
• Fill containers with water – bath, sinks, buckets, wheelie bins, etc
• Have ladders ready for roof space access (inside) and against roof (outside)
• Have generator or petrol pump ready
• Check and patrol outside for embers and extinguish any spot fires and seek shelter as the fire front arrives.
Regular updated information will be provided on the QFRS Rural Operations website at www.ruralfire.qld.gov.au or at www.fire.qld.gov.au or by listening to their local radio station.

Re: Bushfire Status - Queensland
I drove past it on the way to Capalaba at about 2:30. It is only 5 minutes away from me, although it is in the acreage areas.
Boundary Road, in Thornlands, had water pipes running across to supply water to the fire engines, and a helicopter with a dangling pipe was flying overhead.
Two police cars were there to make sure that we all drove over the hoses slowly.
The carriageway to Victoria Point was closed off, to allow the engines to work their stuff.
Even though it is close, there is no sign of it from my house.

We are just getting some rain now so hope that Michelago is being dampened somewhat - doesnt seem to be any thunder and lightning associated with it thank goodness. We've some BE members in that area (POW148) unless he moved so hope they are OK.

Hope everyone out that way is safe

Sounds like Michelago is still going at present. They think Londonderry is improving, but there's still some bad ones in south NSW.
and a nasty one in East Gippsland now too.

We got married on my father-in-law's property in Toodyay (sold it years ago). I wonder if it's still standing, been trying to make out exactly where the fires are from internet news but can't get a real idea.
