Question Broadband and wireless??

Hello,

I havent got a clue with broadband and wireless conections. So hoping someone on here can help.

I have a normal PC that had ADSL modem in it (it is a LAN one that can share the connection,). Computer arrives in the next couple of weeks with shipping.

Before we left Europe we bought a Laptop for my son that has wifi. But dont ask me how this works. Ive just been using dial up which is slow as hell.

Now I want broadband, do I get a wireless modem/router? Can I connect the PC to it?

What do I need to buy and how easy is it to connect the PC and Laptop? How do I do it?

Any input for someone who is a complete dope with internet connections!

The easiest way is to buy a new wireless router and a wifi adapter for each machine that needs it.

You will need:
1. a bit of technical knowledge or a friend with this
2. your internet username and password and any configuration settings (you can usually get these from your ISP's website)
3. most wireless routers come with network ports so you can connect your desktop PC to it with a network cable
4. check whether the laptop has wifi, if not you'll need to buy a wifi card for it.

The second option is to buy a wireless access port and plug this into your existing ADSL router - alothough strangely you will probably find this more complicated.

When I have set wireless up for friends it usually takes between two and three hours to get it all working and secure, so if you plan on getting a local engineer out budget for that.

Hope this helps any other questions let me know
