Are there any R.E.M.E wives who's husbands transfered into the Australian Army. Whats it like, what advice could you give us and is the grass greener as they say.

Hi, Will let you know soon. Flying the 30th of June I have only heard good things though.

Where are you based at the moment. Do you have to be a certain rank to tranfer? I have heard that it can take a long time, and also although they pay for removals, you have to pay for certain things? is it alot of money?

There are a few of us around. WE have our application in and our waiting to see if we get an interview in August . I know of a few people in various units around oz who went out last year.
Once you have done 3 posts on the forum you can PM(sent private mail ) to me and i can give you a load of links that will help make life easier for you. Most of the time for security reason its easier to speak in private than openly.

The info i have is what came from a CD which was given to us a couple of years back. We had hoped to be having interviews this August but unfortunatly as the skills assesment still have not come back we have dipped out so we have been put back a litle bit
You should have enough posts as you have done more than 3 posts.
your first port of call should be to this website and from there you can contact the lateral recruiting officer. www.defence.gov.au/army
However i should warn you there have been an influx in people wanting to transfer. With this in mind we are looking at going over independently as back up. Im not sure if they will take you in as 'new soldiers' as such as every one i know has gone over after 22 years service.

Sorry my mistake, i got you confused with the other army wife on this thread.(army_wife). I will be happy to help in any way.
If you pm me your email then i can email you with some pdf attachments which has some information that will be useful to you.
It may take me a couple of days to find all the info docs neccesary. Be patient with me though as im trying to get a major OU assignment done by next week.
