Default Brits no longer dreaming of a life in Australia

Quelle Surprise!

British migrants down 50% since 2006. Told ya this would happen, Australia has priced itself out of almost everything thesedays, including migrants.

You have to laugh, only 6 months ago we were told by the Aussie newspapers saying how we're going to buckle under the weight of new migrants, not enough housing, resources, etc.

THE number of Britons emigrating to Australia each year has almost halved, according to new figures published by British media.
Britain's Office for National Statistics has released data showing that residents of Blighty are leaving at their lowest rate for more than a decade.

that's normal. if you look at the exchange rate in 2006 and 2010, most of the brit's just don't want to sacrafice their comfortable and secure life for one down under. Whereas 5 yrs ago they were willing to take the risk with nearly trippeling their money and with the house prices a lot less as well. This will change again, but not for another few yrs!

I've been here 30 years and can tell you exactly what is happening..... Australia is starting to seriously align with it's geographical partners rather than it's historical old World past.

The UK/European influence is starting to decline. The apron ties are being cut quite rapidly at present. Aus will be a totally different country in 30 years time with a very heavy South East Asian emphasis. When the Sun rises over Asia, Australia will be a pivotal part. The pertinent question is, will the UK be able to keep up. ? I'd like to see your gut reaction to that one.
We're getting as many migrants as we ever did, They are just from Asia now. When it comes to the Chinese, They are probably some of the Wealthiest and dynamic migrants this Country has ever seen. Edit Great intergrators as well. :sunglasses:

Incredibly interesting times in this Country as the social strata is changing very quickly. Unfortunately the Poms are probably permanently being priced out.

When the politicians in London devalued the pound they made Australia more expensive overnight, to British people anyway.
