Ok, customer walks in and orders fish, I get todays fresh fillet out of fridge, dip it in VB batter ( I go through 2 slabs a week, 1 for the batter:-) into the hot cottonseed oil, take out, wrap and serve. Is it hot, yep, when the customer gets it.

Cheers

I took my Aussie husband home to Glasgow and on one of our trips to town we went for a lunch in a chippy/restaurant. When the lassie came over to take the order I asked for 2 fish suppers and she looked at me for a minute and then said do you mean fish and chips??? What's that all about? They still call them suppers don't they or is it not PC??

After spending the best part of 20 yrs working there I'm over it, the best thing out of Grimsby is the A46. I would have said the A180 but it's such a bastard of a road, bloody corrugated concrete:curse:

nothing wrong with grimsby or cleethorpes at a push if combined with haddock and chips. On its own Grimsby now thats a different story.

Only tried fish and chips once in Australia and that was in Cleveland when I get to Cairns will definately have to try the things you mention Cresta, never been a big fan of shell fish though don't know why but I am going to learn how to love it especially when we are living in cairns.
