Ha ha Chicken breasts that is! Did anyone notice when they first arrived here how huge the chicken breasts are here? It's not normal, they must be stuffed with hormones to get that big. I've also been told that the poor chickens fall over because the breasts are so big. I always try and buy organic and look for small ones.

yup My local butcher does big one (ooerr matron) but he is organic AFAIK. Did have a rather comical, Carry On inspired conversation with him on Satruday as I ordered my Xmas meat. Me complementing him on his large breasts Being rather well endowed myself, he though it most amusing

I'll agree with you there...But the large cooked chickens don't look all that large. Id like to buy the ones that the breasts fitted...

Used to be common practice in the UK that prior to slaughter chickens (and other animals) were denied fluid, becoming dehydrated.

Just prior to slaughter they were given fluids and as they are so thirsty they gobble down more than what is required.........hence their weight increases.......suppliers would be paid by the lbs for their produce and as a consequence made a healthy profit for.......errrrrrrrrr.........water.

Not sure if it still carries on.........but sharp practice all the same!

Now back to big breasts............

Yes they are big, full of water though, it can leak out whilst you are cooking them. I go for small ones now.
