I think they pick a name and then go for the most bizarre way possible of spelling that name.

Had a little girl called Ocea (pronounced O'sher) at my pre school. Her brother was something like Aerius- can't remember exactly.

Where the hell do they come up with these awful names, it is tantamount to child cruelty.

Yeah thats just lazy. I went out with a girl called Tammy a couple of years ago for a short time. I remembering asking her what its short for, Tasmyn, Tamara, ..? She said it's not short for anything.

I heard of one childs name that I suspect is just an urban myth:

"Xtian"

(pronounced 'Christian')

Give me a few hours and I'll be able to confirm this urban myth is indeed a true story, we've a boy at school similar but I can't think what it actually is supposed to be, I'll have to ask the kids when they get home from school.

Names are quite, quite a mystery to me over here. We probably have 50% normal and 50% just plain strange at our school now

These names or variants there of seem to appear on threads like this a lot. I personally think it is an urban myth but I am going to put them up before anyone else does.
T_a (Tdasha) N_a (Ndasha) etc

Something with extra "x"s and "y"s in it. Jaxxson. Maddoxx. I recently heard someone say she was going to name her daughter Londynn Grey.
