Default BLOODY STUPID MAN

Even (especially) the kids know not to take ANYTHING out of my medicine cabinet..... Simple analgesia is kept on top of the fridge..... they also know NEVER go into my handbag ... Its the only sacresanct house rule and NEVER take medications out of my handbag... As I keep a couple of what I might need in case of emergency, in the zipped side pocket

MY analgesia ... Which is a selection of pretty strong schedule 4 and scedule 8 drugs are kept in my locked medicine cabinet.... So there is NEVER any confusion...

However... FluckwitFeatures (previosuly known as HIM) had a headache and couldnt find any paracetamol on the fridge and took a couple of what HE thought were panadol out of my handbag... They were in a CLEARLY LABELLED PACKET...HE is currently monged out on the settee ... Having taken MY prescribed panadeine forte, and HIM having no tolerance AT ALL to codeine....

Strongest drug HE has ever taken is a couple of panadol or a couple of nurofen... Which were BOTH on the fridge as usual......

Wont see HIM for the rest of the day.... Fluckwit.

The husband very occasionally has decided to take four paracetamol at a time, he reckons he's speeding up the getting well process Took 2 Panadeine Forte with 2 dissolvable paracetamol once. He couldn't work out why he didn't feel very good.

HE's in no fit state to do ANYTHING.....

Jeez, this is stuff I take to "top up" my daily regulars....... And function perfectly normally on it... In fact due to chronic pain issues left over from my brain tumour I can't function without analgesia and benzos.... I would be in so much pain I wouldnt be able to get out of bed, let alone walk any distance or WORK......

Give HIM a couple of the lighter weight ones and HE's like a rabbit in Headlights...

I dont take codeine based anything regularly because of the risks of dependency, but I have to have them on standby for bad days to top up my regular background analgesia.....

I cant believe HE went into my handbag tho.... We have no secrets.... But My handbag is my own special private space.....

Now and again apparently wont kill him, its not good for him, but if its a one off dose there are worse things he can do... But the long term overdosing of paracetamol can cause liver failure ...... Seen it happen... Mainly through people who didnt understand that their paracetamol based analgesias (panadeine forte, Digesic etc) should NOT be taken WITH plain, over the counter paracetamol...

I have accidentally taken my daily slow release medication twice in one morning, largely because I was in so much pain I thought I must have missed it... I now have a "system" in place to prevent that happening again... And I have otherr tools in my toolbox if I need them.... Spent the day unable to function and felt like a TOTAL fluckwit.... After 8 years and being a nurse you'd reckon I could manage my own medications wouldnt you?

Hmm...won't judge Ma'am..until I am in your shoes..

My brother is always self-medicating for something..like when he came down from high-altitude in the Himalaya..he's a medic.
And he has these little chats with his GP where she just rubber stamps his decisions - he carries a med pack around and he is always coming across med emergencies ...helping out the needy..

no bloody rubber stamps for me, I had some avascular necrosis as a result of the brain tumour. Its is a bloody painful condition to live with... Because diagnosis of the tumour took so long permanant damage to my hips knees and shoulder joints resulted... As well as minor joints... They have offered surgery for the worst affected joints... but at this stage I can live with the pain management regieme I have, and where would they like to start operating? Its widespread damage.... I COULD choose to become a professional surgical patient as they deal with each bit one at a time..... Do I want that? Literally years or surgical procedures with no guarentee of success? Or do I want to get on with life as best I can?.... Ummmm let me see.... I'd rather get on with life as best I can.....

Most days I have to make a conscious decision to physically get out of bed due to pain.. I KNOW it will go away once I've taken my meds and kicked my arse through the worst of it... I HATE moving up the analgesic pain management ladder... So I do everything I can to help myself... So I can keep to the bare minimum... Heat packs, keeping moving when I'm awake, swimming, distraction therapy... All better than having to swallow ANOTHER handful of bloody pills....

And I reckon I do a bloody good job keeping the chemicals to the minimum, pushing myself onwards everyday and working full time, which is something "They" said I would never do again....
