A bit of URGENT help needed!

A bit of background first.
Pauline has had the dreaded phone call and has booked tickets to go back to Glasgow on Monday.
Heres the problem
A friend has just called and told us that she might need an Australia passport to return.
We became citizens on Australia day this year and have never bought an aussie passport
The visa in her British passport is a PR one and our friend thinks it might be overridden now we are citizens.
Is this true?

Can't help with the passport but just wanted to say sincere condolences. We had the same kind of call yesterday morning so can fully empathise.
My thoughts are with you both.

Firstly I am sorry to hear that Pauline has had THE call, something we all dread.

From what I read on here I believe it is correct but that is only what I read on here. however I have heard of people travelling back in with their citizenship certificates and explaining the circumstances.

Good luck Soaps.

this is what i was hoping. we have left it a bit late as pauline is working today, so we have no chance of getting an aussie passport in time.

She could also take everything with her and try and get the Aussie High Commission to sort something out while she is in the UK. I am sure under the circumstances they will be able to do something.

Yes, your visa is cancelled when you become citizens, so it won't be valid (although I have heard of some getting back in with it - bit risky though!)

How long is she going for? Maybe she could apply for a passport from there?

I have heard of people getting back in with their certs only, but it will cause troubles for her as she will have to go to the airport to check in to the plane. She won't be able to book in online, and it really will depend on the person she gets on the day as to whether it will be straight forward or not.

Alternatively, see if you can get one rushed through and post it across for her? https://www.passports.gov.au/Web/Forms/EntryPoint.aspx
