After scouring the internet for the last 2 days to try and find an answer for you, it seems that lots of soapy water and a hard brush are the only things that work. Only thing is it involves elbow grease as well.

Unless you have parrots or something from their family, cos it won't bother them so much, as they are a bit more intelligent. For them you'd need something that is their natural predator. For help with that I need to know where abouts you live.
