Hello all - first messdage to front page! Any ideas about "best" frequent flyer scheme (in terms of flight discounts - not really interested in access to lounges) anyone? Can kids join?

I'd recommend looking for an airline which is either a member of the Star Alliance or the One World Alliance of airlines. Joining the scheme of one of members then allows you to accumulate and spend miles on all other airlines in the alliance.

A way of earning extra miles is joining an airline scheme where you can then apply for a credit card to link your monthly spending to the account to gain more miles (not for everyone obviously), e.g. BA Amex, Qantas ANZ Mastercard

Forgot to mention, some also offer 'Family Accounts' to link your accounts and pull all your miles together.
