Do the ozzies serve it pickled or fresh? Fresh roast beetroot is lovely. Pickled tastes of nothing but vinegar. Doesn't offend me though.

Mainly from a tin.......I think the same about pickled red cabbage all it tastes of is vinegar

I'm the same - love fresh red cabbage but don't eat it pickled. looks like I'll have to get used to it though.

all ways had a meal with the family in frankston before flying home and there was this tangle of carefully shaved beetroot stuck on the top of me steak (fresh) and for the unsuspecting they stick it pickled in anything burgers sarnies you name it

I usually pickle my own tastes a lot better than the pre pickled stuff (Red cabbage that is. Not the evil Beetroot)

But I gotta admit, its growin on me ! Is it called Sweetbeet here? not sure, but im won over.

We put beetroot in the burgers at our Chippy and i reckon about 20% of our customers ask for no beetroot in them and most of them are Aussies, the Brits seems to love it!

We have converted most of our regular Aussie customers to battered fish instead of crumbed and i'm gonna hit them with the mushy peas and curry sauce next month
