I'm no techy whizz, I paid for a programme to hide my ip, I think the website address is www.hide-my-ip.com and then I select a UK IP address and Voila ! I can watch iPlayer and ITV Player, I'm all up to date on my Corrie, Eastenders, X Factor, I'm A Celeb, Spooks... God I think I might watch too much tele....
Aussie tele just doesn't do it for me!
Other people download from www.thebox.biz or www.UKnova.com but I'm not into file sharing and I get scared that downloading will zap all my internet (probably unjustified!) so I stream the programmes and with our telstra package there's no buffering and I bought a lead that plugs into my laptop and into my TV so I can watch the iPlayer and things on the TV

I dont know what you mean by 'no buffering' as the player is generally the thing that does the buffering.

Does it suffer from stopping and starting all the time while your watching it unless you have a great internet connection?

Streaming will zap your bandwidth too, you still download the video, you just watch it there and then. Downloading will allow you to watch it more than once without having to download it again.

The buffering thing was when we were on a smaller package the stream would stop/start all the time but we went up to the next size package and it works great now.
No problems!!

I use whatsonthebox.net that hides my ip but I have had problems with shows loading. See my thread asking for computer help below.
I have also used the box which was pretty good although I have found that bit torrent is much quicker than u torrent. Bit torrent takes about 40 minutes to download an hour of x factor or I'm a celeb but u torrent took hours and I mean hours!

Or don't bother with any VPNs, Proxy packages, downloads and just use www.filmon.com - which is still free for the time-being and does, for the most part, work flawlessly.

It was about $30 USD a year I think

Well worth it in my opinion, it has been used daily since April.

I personally wouldn't use any kind of torrent as its generally too slow for me.

For US programmes (well, House and 24 and Mythbusters for me), I use www.eztv.it. Not as fast as thebox, but fast enough.
Then just plug a netbook with a vga cable into the tv. No stuttering or stopping. And you can watch them repeatedly, burn them to DVD whatever.
I suppose its horses for courses, streaming would be fine for something like Corrie, I mean you wouldn't watch it more than once. But something like HIGNY or Mythbusters, you probably would want to view again.

Depends entirely on your quota. You say you're on wireless, so I'd tread carefully because telcos like Telstra crucify you if you go over quota.
