I'm feeling a bit left out of all of this.... It never happens to me dammit

Although I do have a hazy recollection from the other night at circa 2am at the pub for the Palace Final game.... ordered 3 pints of beer and the bloke said 38 dollars after handing him 50 bucks..... I just looked at him and kept my hand out, slowly sobering right up and he kept increasing the change he gave me muttering different figures and he passed over the coins.... right back to charging just 24 dollars..... Silly place to try and rip someone off in a room with over 150 UK supporters in it.

Makes me wonder how often the pissed in pubs get ripped of as one of the barmans lurks and perks..

If we're relaying bad customer service stories then I'll fill you in on my recent attempts to buy a pair of boots.

On Sunday I went to Myer in Morley. The shoe department was not terribly busy and there were at least 2 sales ladies working. After I found one that I liked and picked it up off the shelf I mosied over to the counter to wait for someone to get them in my size so I could try them on. Nobody bothered for about 10 minutes, so I did the walk around the department looking for someone - anyone to get me the boots. Finally after another 10 minutes I interrupted the sales woman who was now helping someone who came in after me to tell her to insert said boots rectally and that she had just lost a $300 sale.

So, yesterday I left work early thinking I would see if there was anything at David Jones I liked. I went to the one here in Perth City. As I'm looking at the display shelves the sales lady came over and asked if there was anything in particular I was looking for. I said yes, "black dress boots with a 2" or more heel. But I need wide calf boots". Her reply was that David Jones doesn't have calfskin boots. Only leather. I told her I don't care what they're made of, I want boots with wide calfs. She looked at me kind of like this so I said "Fat legs. I need boots for fat legs". "No, David Jones doesn't cater for fat people" she says. Ok, so DJ's is off the list now.

Online it is, then. Or I'll just buy them when I'm overseas in August.

Until I call them on delivery day to just double check that they're sending two guys and are aware of the steps etc. The manager flipped out and basically said that none of his staff would have told me delivery would be ok because they'll need a pecialist piano delivery company to take on the steps etc. Long story short (too late for that maybe) I had to pay extra and wait another week and take a morning off work to wait in for my piano. Delivery company don't show up, numerous calls later they finally show up after another two days at 6.30 in the morning, install the piano, don't put the stool together (not included apparently!!) and leave all of the enormous packaging behind.

So i go to JB Hi Fi to get some new headphones for said piano. All of the staff are standing round watching a basketball game and I have to shout at one of them to actually break the gaze and get some service. The headphones i wanted weren't out for demo but there was a pair in the cabinet which I could see so I asked the chap to open the case and get them out. Such huffing and eye rolling over a simple task, he even had the key on him but he just wanted to get back to the game!

You have to wonder if some Aussie businesses are TRYING to lose custom. Is it any wonder I buy as much as possible online...

It's not all roses online either - Tiddlypom will no doubt be along to tell us of her experiences with a well known online shoe retailer

Hi Dorothy,
Off topic but relevant to your post. These guys have really nice boots and do have some for wider legs. I tried some the other year that were about $320 but couldn't face the wrath of the main earner in the house so left them.....sob!

http://www.cinori.com.au/heeled-boots/w1/i1001286/

They are only in Vic and a couple of stores in qld but they deliver free to anywhere in Australia. Italian makes and the leather on the ones I tried was really soft.....

I had an incident of what I thought was really great customer service recently, from Harvey Norman of all places!

2 years ago we bought a panel heater from Clive Peeters...decent quality Scandinavian thingo. To the exact day when it suddenly turned cold here in Melbourne the electronic timer carked it meaning it couldn't be switched on. I dug out the original receipt and called up Clive Peeters...who answered, "Hello, Harvey Norman, Richmond". Then I remembered CP went out of business a while back. I explained the situation and they said bring it in. Did that on the weekend and although the receipt clearly showed we declined any sort of extra product cover they simply replaced it with a brand new one there and then...no fussing around with sending it off to the manufacturer and probably getting it back just as winter ended. I was very happy with that!

Same here with HN. Bought a fridge freezer recently. Got free delivery the next day and he upgraded the model for the same money because I made him laugh!!

That's very odd behaviour for JB staff. I have shopped at several in Qld and NSW. They all went out of their way, especially in a suburban Sydney store-both myself and my cousins fiancé, were after a gps that was on special, they had none, so they organised for another store to hold me 1 for me until we got there-got there and they not only had that one, but also found a 2nd for him.

I didn't say above but I left the correct cash on the counter & took the food. I've drafted a whinge to the head office giving the exact time as per my tax invoice, I'll probably not even get a reply.
They seem to forget the 2 rules of customer service!
Rule 1: The customer is always right.
Rule 2: If in doubt, refer to Rule 1.

The shoe department in Myer city is very good. The younger staff(not all) downstairs in Miss Shop are not no good.I contacted Myers and they were very happy to have my feed back.I was given a pleasant apology and invited to come in and say hello.
