Default Banff, Canada

We're going skiing there next week, just wondered if anyone had been and whether you liked it? I can't wait! It's been nice having something to look forward to after Christmas. And we're not going to talk about the wedding or emigrating for the whole 10 days .

Now I've just got to hope I can remember how to ski.... it's been a long time

Banff is beautiful, as is Jasper..... Youll most likely love it there for the stunning scenery alone

Spent 2 years living in Calgary (you will fly into there) and spent many weekends up at Banff. The skiing will be awesome for you, they held the 1988 winter olympics up there. Here are a few of pictures of local attractions. Bow Falls in Winter, Banff Springs Hotel and the view from the top of Sulphur Mountain.

Have a great time.

Sounds great thanks! So if I do break my leg on the first day, at least the scenery will be good

Try and get to Lake Louise and visit these http://www.banfflakelouise.com/exper...park/ice-magic

the sculptures usually hang around for a couple of months, I have attached some pics I took when we went to give you an idea.

We've been skiing there twice - it is really beautiful and great skiing. Obviously a little chilly - the first time we landed in Calgary it was -34!

Shame we never got to see those amazing ice sculptures! Have skied at Lake Louise, but I don't like it - always been very icy when I've been there and I'm not that good a skier

Banff is gorgeous. We stayed there last year.
There is a lovely Gondola ride that you can take up some mountains, it is near the Fairmont Banff Springs hotel. We stayed at that hotel and it has a fantastic spa which I used and I would really recommend it if you had a day free to be pampered. There is also a really great horse riding place just down from the hotel, if you are into that.
The town itself is really lovely and picturesque, you will have a great time there!

Looks stunning doesn't it!
Just a thought, if you wanted more specific info then you could try asking on the Canada forum? (which you might have done already, I've not checked!)

Have a great time!

Well we had an absolutely fantastic time! Got back yesterday and feeling a bit jet lagged! But we absolutely loved it - loved Banff, loved the skiing/boarding and loved Canada. Definitely the best skiing/boarding we've ever done.

It was cold but totally manageable with the right clothes on (lots)! And it was fine when you were skiing (although bloody freezing on the chair lifts!). We skied in Norquay, Sunshine and Lake Louise. Even had a go at night skiing.

Also visited the natural hot springs which was worth doing - they were proper hot (40 degrees) which was funny with snow all around you.

Anyway, it's crap to be back, I just wish we were still there, we loved it! I'll try and attach some pics....
