Depends who you fly with, which way and what class. Fly economy with most airlines via Asia and get 20kg each. Fly Air New Zealand via USA and get 46kg each (I think). Goes up to 64kg each in Business.

We came across on a 457 a fotnight ago, we went with 1 bag each as we were told by some, that you only got the 40kg baggage allowance on a perm visa. so we rocked up with only 5 bags, geezer on the check out desk, looks at our bags and says ' you aint taking much, your only taking half your limit!!!!" however we wouldn't have managed across big old London town with 10 bags in tow.
I wanted to take chance and have a couple more bags but missus wasn't having it!
its up to thee!

Far from saying "its up to thee! " its better for 457 holders to have alternative plans if they turn up with lover 20kgs. Be prepared to leave the luggage with friends aor pay a lot. If you're lucky you'll get through, but you certainly can't guarantee it.
(and thats from someone who ALWAYS turns up for flights back to Aus with far too much luggage - I always have a contingency plan and a credit card!)

We were allowed extra luggage when we moved out here with Singapore Airlines. We're moving back to the UK after Christmas but they won't give us extra back even though we are moving back to the UK for good.

Hi,
We flew via Singapore with Singapore Airlines and brought 85kg of luggage over on a working holiday visa (2 x adults) - and luckily we didn't get charged for it!!
We got checked in via the first class desk at Heathrow (althrough unfortunatley didn't get upgraded!!) and the lady didn't bat an eye at the luggage. It was the same in Singapore.
We were dreading the check in and expected a massive bill!
Good Luck,
Paul.
