Default autoimmune specialist recommendations please

I have a friend who is very ill, and has been for a long, with an autoimmune/lupus/connective tissue disorder. She is in Perth and has been shoved from pillar to post seeing a variety of 'specialists' for her various symptoms. Therein is the problem, no two people seem to communicate and come to any one solution to help her.

Can anybody at all please please recommend a GOOD specialist or teaching hospital that specilises in this area. She is very willing to travel over East to find a solution.

Thanks

difficult to advise on this, not knowing what exactly has gone on before. If it's a lupus like disorder, then a rheumtologist would be the best person to see. Surely she must have seen at least 1 rheumtologist. And surely they'd be good enough in Perth

RPH has an Immunodeficiency unit which specializes in autoimmune disorders.

This link has a few tips on it: http://forum.wehavelupus.com/showthr...tern-Australia. Has your friend tried Western Rheumatology (tel 9380 9944) and the Wyllie Arthritis Centre in Shenton Park (17 Lemnos Street, tel 9382 8135, http://www.arthritiswa.org.au/aboutus.php)?

As Helen has mentioned Id try a support group/medical charity website for recommendations. Google most have a forum.

Ive got kids with serious medical issues, one was a rare condition. So before I emigrated I asked on support forums and got names of experts and told who to avoid.

Patients with similar conditions have already gone through the process of hunting down the expert consultant. You need to speak with those with the condition to get the best and upto date info.

Good Luck
