What's Gillard got to do with it? Anyone can nominate anyone else then the AOTY councils make a decision. I'm not aware that the PM of the time has a say in the matter.

Like Coles and Curtis Stone. Aussie this, aussie that, aussie recipie, aussie shops at Coles.

Must be a wonderful bloody supermarket, to commute all that way from his house in LA

Bruce and Denise seem to eat, sleep and breathe their mission to improve safety for chilcren. Geoffrey Rush works to carve himself a successful career.

If this is someone's idea of a popular choice, they're rather out of touch IMO.
AOTY goes to people from all walks of life - doctors, volunteers, aid workers, military, sports etc. This year they chose one of Australia's most successful actors.

It's a non-issue - apart from on BE.
