My life is fantastic. just been down the fishing club with some friends, couple of drinks overlooking the ocean. some dinner now and an evening with the kids, very happy indeed

To the OP - almost not worth the debate.

If you found Australia/ns to be like that then you never saw the best of it and you missed out. May not matter much anyway if you have since found a better place.

I went to Plymouth once... It was cold and wet and mostly closed! But it did have a half decent seafront.
