Australia Day
How will you be celebrating? maybe you won't be, maybe you think its just a day where all australians turn into drunken bogans.. maybe you call it "invasion Day".
So what'll ya be doin'? a sausage sizzle in the front drive? some DIY? driving up and down in ya ute with a giant aussies flag hanging off the roof? painting your face blue? or getting p!ssed down the beach?
Happy Australia Day!!

Today will mostly be spent driving to the airport to collect Eldestchild, so we're having out Australia Day BBQ tomorrow.
Fortunately the BBQ is under cover or I think I'd be cooking it all on the grill

Re: Australia Day
I am no fan of flag waving patriotism, all this American style flag waving and hand on heart as the flag goes up the pole and all that shite.
Same in the UK, I would be against any English national day holiday that some seem to want. The English way is to be reserved about it. Well outside of world cups and Euro cups when everyone does go Ingurrrrlllaaannnd feral.
Looks like being a cool and cloudy day around Sydney so will hopefully put a dampener on things and keep the Aussie flag wearing bogans quieter than usual. Wouldn't be Australia Day without a big fight down at Bondi or some other place though. Tis the spirit of the day.

There's nothing wrong with being vocally and visibly proud of your country, the good things which flow from it and it's outstanding citizens. Why would anyone want to put a dampener on that?

We're going to our community breakfast & cricket match then to IGA to buy some bumwad. #1 daughter forgot to get it when she went grocery shopping last weekend (first time on her own, so it's forgivable) and we're now all out.

A happy Australia Day to you all - especially to those poms with all their hang-ups, prejudices, insecurities and preconceived ideas
Hope you have a good one
We are having a quiet one at home. Been for a family cycle this morning and the rest of the day will be chilling, pool, and unfortunately for me, some uni reading - marketing. Urgh

We're off to a BBQ with friends - swim and watch the fireworks from their front deck (if there are any here in Brisbane). Youngest has her Aussie umbrella hat on already (she's been wanting one for years so finally grabbed her one before they ran out this year). Was a little disappointed that Li Cunxin didn't get Aussie of the Year but I knew he'd be a long shot - up against an Indigenous sports person and Geoffrey Rush having received it for contribution to the arts just a couple of years ago.

OH and DD are doing a barbecue. I'm not well, so I'm hopping between the sofa, the loo and the computer. Well, not hopping, more like shuffling.
