Like Poms and Saffas, I've always found most Aussies willing to buy a round
If you want to see real tight-asses, go to Spain. Those f**kers never get rounds in - although they are more than happy to have drinks bought for them. Maybe has something to do with the poverty wages that they earn

It is not the responsibility of the customer to directly pay the income of an employee. That is the legal responsibility of the employer. The concept of tipping is quite perverted and anyone who expects it is an extortionist and should be charged with a criminal offence.
I asked my Ozzie Boss what the deal is with regards to tipping in Oz and he said no way, they get paid enough.
In S.A. and in the UK I would generally tip 10-15% on good service. At self ordering pubs in the UK - nothing.
Good service gets good tips. Same in the USA, we generally got exceptional service at most places, and we tipped accordingly.

Not in South Africa it isn't. Waiters, waitresses, petrol attendants and many others rely on tips, as their minimum income is pitiful.

Good tip though. Always leave a good tip for the first round so they keep coming back.

Yep, always left as cash and made sure the person who served us, got it. If they pooled it, then nothing we could do about it.
