Are Aussie blokes a bit dull?
Fuelled by the success of the poll fatigue poll, I thought it was time for a bit of healthy debate, which requires me to postulate a rather controversial idea, accompanied by the obligatory poll.
I know may get slated for saying this, but, tbh, I don't care;) Aussie blokes are a bit dull IMO. Most, not all. Yes, a generalisation, and therefore not deemed a valid opinion by many. Funny thing is, everyone generalises (get it?), it's how we form opinions. Time to test my idea out.... |
Re: Are Aussie blokes a bit dull?
Some are, some arent. In fact can I select all three:rofl:

Don't know/care.
I've got my lovely Welsh bloke, and he is all I need. (don't talk to blokes much) |

Re: Are Aussie blokes a bit dull?
It may be a dull conclusion, but it is fairly accurate- you can't class every man as dull, just because you have met some that are. That is a sweeping generalisation.

Aah... The challenge of trying to get a bit of banter going in a democracy.....

Not calling you dull, more the easy process of making a bland statement which means nothing.

So they probably save all their scintillating conversation for their fellow men.... |
Re: Are Aussie blokes a bit dull?
No. I don't find Aussie blokes a bit dull. The male dullards IMO are generally British and found posting here.
I quite like the Australian men I've met. |
Re: Are Aussie blokes a bit dull?

Re: Are Aussie blokes a bit dull?
As most of my experience of Oz is regional I'd say there is an archetypal Aussie bloke here - manual worker, likes a session down the pub, owns a tinny and a ute, uses very few words - probably not a result of long swathes of quiet contemplation, keen sports fan, hates curry munchers and has been to Thailand once on holiday. To me that's dull but I'm probably equally bland to him.

If you mean that the average Aussie is not particularly well educated, then yes. You need to raise your game and seek out the cream. |

Granted - I find the average Brit more interesting than the average Aussie but once you get above all that, Australians then come into their own. |

True perhaps. It's harder to seek out the creme of the bunch in regional Australia.

TE your stereotypical male is the norm in Geelong, at least as I see it. Of course I've met blokes that fall outside of this stereotype and who are quite interesting to talk to. For example I know 2 blokes, both secondary school teachers, one of whom has lived in the uk for a bit, and both of them are very uncomfortable with Australia's jingoistic culture. One of them even hates afl! Unfortunately his wife is a fat minger so our friendship is doomed. The other's wife is quite a minx;) |
Re: Are Aussie blokes a bit dull?
Having grown up in Geelong I agree 100%. Full of Harley riding meatheads.
