Default Attn techies -macBook wifi connectivity problems..

Recently bought a MacBook air and am having problems connecting to the house wifi. In fact when I try and connect it holds the connection for a few minutes before dropping it and throwing off the two iPads and the iPhone. I can return the MacBook now as its in the 7 day warrantee thing but I hoped I might get a techy to answer whether it's possible to improve connectivity anyhow - is airport something that could help?

Without the MacBook on everything else stays connected perfectly.

Mountain Lion is buggered wrt wifi. High likelihood that this is what's killing your router.

This might help, although its really down to apple to solve their screw up.

Update the firmware on your router before returning your macbook. Could be a very easy fix.

I'm not sure what that means. Very frustrated here. The MacBook holds the connection for about 1 minute before it knocks off everything else. Would it work if I got the bloody thing a separate dongle? Or would that mean it wouldn't iCloud to everything else??

Find out what model wifi router you have, go to google and type it in along with the word firmware. Should give you a download with instructions. Be sure to follow the instructions.

It's a Telstra business 2 wire unit 2701hgv-w running on iinet as ISP. I can't find a download new firmware on the net and I can't connect long enough anyway!

Would a more powerful router do the job ?? Thanks so much Garry and Knock Off - this is really driving me mad

Just googling this router comes up with loads of issues. Can they not replace it?

Agreed, 2wire have a reputation as being a POS, particularly when concerned with macs. Terminate with extreme prejudice.
