Damn,
That wasn't part of the plan - 1 down for no runs!

It's great stuff, but Bell and Collingwood are the guys I'm really worried about.

Cook's deadbatting the Aussies, not playing any false shots - see how Doherty handles KP now.....

All going a bit pear shaped for us.

Even worse is that the bbc has gone on the blink at work for some reason (can't get any .co.uk sites ) so have to listen to the abc coverage instead.

Hmmmm, Siddle was saying this morning that it would be a good toss to lose. I thought that he would say that, but I reckon he's got a point. England are not collapsing so if they can add another 50 for the 5th and get to 350-odd (or more), then I would say that they have done well.

JoeBloggs80 Nov 24th 2010 4:20 pm

Re: Ashes - Live

Yeah 350+ would do. Bell and Cook seem settled, need a ton from at least one of them I think.

Also Watson seems to be getting it to swing a bit which bodes well for our bowlers.

True. I think Australia have bowled quite well - it's very close at the moment.

Bugger!
Still, anything can happen in test cricket and the balls swinging at the moment, which may help our bowlers (and they may get their chance soon at this rate).

Agree. IMO, getting to 200 - in any test - is not a collapse.

It's a crazy day - England have just scored 29 runs off 3 overs - a hat-trick and then easy runs.

What are they to say in the alternative?

Q. "So are you going to retain the Ashes"

A. "You know, we will try our best, but Australia have won it more times than us so it is not a foregone conclusion - lets just hope we play well and beat them"

Don't think that would wash either!

Re: Ashes - Live

That was still a fantastic days test cricket, it had a nice ebb and flow before Australia won the day. Seeing a guy get a hat trick is pretty special. Its still game on. In the end it was Australia's day but still along way to go. A draw will be a good result at the Gabba for England.

Poor session from England. Bowlers are economical but batsmen are playing safe. Swann needs to be given more in the next session and should have been used more.

Pretty well generally, cracks opening in pitch, any lead would be very nice indeed. Hussey is playing well though ...
