Hello everyone
We have arrived in Australia!
We had a fantastic time in Hawai'i, it was so good to catch up with my Aunt who lives there, we spent a lot of time with her and the girls loved playing in her pool and bouncing around with her, she greatly enjoyed meeting them and now they are in Australia they keep asking when they are going to see her again. We were taken out to a very posh restaurant in Honolulu and the girls busied themselves drawing on the pristine white tablecloth, the waiter assured us that was OK!
We were delayed 4 hours on the flight from Honolulu to Melbourne which was rather annoying. I had a bit of an exciting morning that day as I couldn't find the rental car return location which was off-airport. So I thought I'd wait at Arrivals for the rental car courtesy bus to pass, and follow that, a security guard moved me on before it came and gave me directions which were wrong and led me into a US airforce base where I was made to get out and the car was searched before I was allowed back on the freeway!!! I found the rental drop off over an hour after I started searching.... lucky the flight was delayed!
The girls were fantastic on the flight even though it was 12 hours - they are real seasoned travellers now and nothing phases them, they slept a lot of the way and were kept entertained by a 6 year old Australian boy who read to them and did colouring with them.
We stayed at an airport hotel the first night. In the morning our brand new car was delivered, but just as it arrived we discovered that Candice had rammed a tiny piece of Fiona's jewellery into her ear! So she was rushed to the doctor's in a taxi, and after a second trip as the first doctor's was closed the jewellery was removed. So the first journey the new car made was to collect Fiona and Candice. Luckily everything was OK and Candice was fine.
The weather - well, if this is midwinter bring it on, 16 degrees and sun, T-shirt weather. I understand it will get a bit cooler over the next few days - right now we don't care.
We're not Australians, but I think its OK to call ourselves Victorians.
It's hard to believe we're here!
