You know - I always wondered the same. In fact the cynical side of me says maybe the cops are doing this to drive it all out

Hope we're wrong.

Yes agree. The McCanns have paid a very high price for what was totally irresponsible behaviour.
However, this became a global cause celebre as did the Morcombe case (nationally) in Australia.

These are two lovely kids, I don't detract from that, but I do feel sad for all those who have had children go missing, and who do not get this publicity.

I think the McCanns have worked hard to keep the publicity going, it didn't just happen by itself, not for all this time. Not every parent in their situation has the savvy to do so.

But all the publicity in the world isn't going to change anything though, I expect Madeleine sadly died a long time ago, within 24 hours of her disappearance, like most abducted children.

I've seen this sentence a couple of times over the last few days. Why do you say that?

Because it's the truth. Thousands of children get abducted every year. However once the initial media frenzy (if indeed there is one) is over, no one hears a thing about them. These two, somehow, have managed to keep it going for years.

Because they have friends in the right places, Esther McVey being one of them, Tory MP for west Wirral, ex TV presenter.

Absolutely. If they had been anyone else they would have been done for child neglect.

I don't think the McCanns can be blamed for keeping it in the spotlight.
Of course it's sad that other children don't get the same coverage but abduction by a stranger is, thankfully, rare. Most abductions are by people who know the child.

No one blames them for keeping the case in the spotlight, jeez anyone would want to do the same. I think people are still upset they left their child in an apartment while they went out for a meal with their mates.

That seems to have been conveniently forgot by the media

I agree. I find it hard to have much sympathy with them for that reason. I just hope that Madeline was sold to a nice family who love and care for her or that she is dead because any other fate for that poor kid is too hard to contemplate.

I do have sympathy, as a parent it's something you wouldn't wish on anyone. However it pisses me off that they left their kid to go eat
