Excuse my ignorance but we have to know this before we can degenerate the thread into an australia vs Uk rose tinted abusive about turning off topic conversation |
Re: apple tv
We had the Apple TV box for a little while butgot rid of it and bought the Samsung equivalent which is much better and way easier to use, it also isnt as restrictive as the Apple device.

Re: apple tv
Been foxtel free for 2 months and don't miss it and happy saving the $180/month (2xtv). Can't download to ipad as far as I know. TV needs a dongle thing to talk to wifi and laptop but laptop doesn't need to be in same room so kids could be doing their thing simultaneously.

Enjoy your Apple Soapy  (Even if it is according to the FOAKAW "inferior") |
Re: apple tv
We've had Apple TV for about five years or so. When we were living in the UAE, we didn't even have television connected. Everything we wanted to watch we downloaded and watched on the Apple TV or directly through Youtube. It's amazing the amount of stuff people upload onto Youtube immediately. The kids could watch Home and Away the day after it aired in Australia.

Re: apple tv
One massive plus for apple tv is that it's one of the few non computer devices that can run XBMC.
XBMC = the holy grail of Home Theatre and Movie and media downloads. He he... seed planted. It's the only way to go Soapy  |

Re: apple tv

http://www.raspberrypi.org/ That will run XBMC and play Hi-def. Plug in external hard drive and plug in to plasma any you're away! cost? about $50! |

Only way Foxtel will keep me on now will be a free IQ2 (HD) install and half the price of my current costs... Which is 93 bucks for everything except for movies. The other thing that Apple TV wont do is run VPN's.... Still it's a unit I seriously looked at getting. Didn't see that Raspberry one though and looks damn useful to me. Can it be networked to the Revo running Windows 7 . |

Chief issue at the moment is you can't get your hands on one, the initial manufacturing run was 30-40x oversubscribed and sold out in minutes. |

Re: apple tv
I love my Apple TV too, bought it to watch Netflix which is great. I couldn't find out if Netflix could be used on an Australian WD TV live box as would have preferred that.

I'd probably be quite lost with the Apple TV version as well.... It's linux based. Worth some time learning it IMO. Actually just thought of something.... Run Boxee on your computer instead just to give yourself an idea of what the much better XBMC is capable of. Boxee is dead simple to use. Boxee is basically a user freindly version of XBMC and should just run straight away. |

Just put one or two movies in it.... then look for Movie Information then try and configure from there. Took me quite a while I will admit. It's quite geeky to set up but once its up and running its fantastic.

This is new to me. We cancelled sky tv a few months back and don't really miss the packages etc itself, but do get hacked off when I'm home of the drivel on the tv. Love my music would love to be able to play the music off my itunes or iphone/ipod in different places without relying on the max volume coming out the little speaker on the device. |

Re: apple tv
WD TV Live is better. You can plug in your own storage so you don't need to stream.
