What is your source for this? Everything I have read says it about the same.
I think the Spotify app works just fine personally. I had a quick look at the Apple Music desktop and it seemed a hot mess, but I'm sure the mobile app will be more refined. Personal preference really, much like Apple vs Android in general. Neither is objectively superior than the other.

Maybe the android app is better. The one in IOS just doesn't compare to the Apple Music app. I think an app is superior if it is easier to navigate.

Will Apple music be available on Android?
Android is objectively better than Android at this point in time. Miles in fact. I did extensive studies on this when I upgraded earlier on this year. The Android OS was the nail in the coffin. The only thing Apple phones had going for them in the 6 was the camera pitched up against Samsung. The OS was the big clincher. Android rips all over IOS right now.

Looks like I won't be trialling it then.

If you're doing the free trial, make sure you turn off auto-renewal
How to Turn Off Apple Music’s Auto-Renewal - Personal Tech News - WSJ
This is going to catch a lot of people out who will use it a few times to give a try, forget about and then get stung 3 months later. Sneaky.

Can't comment on the music app of choice. Tend not to use Spotify at all these days because I don't stream through phone. If I do stream its through the PC when working and I just use Windows 8 built in Xbox music.

Re: Apple Music
Because my laptop has so much junk on it and it runs like a dog for editing. It takes me ages to do anything. So the plan is to have a computer with nothing else on it just for editing so it doesn't slow down over time. I also want to run a second monitor with a display port, which I have already, but it is connected with HDMI and is not working properly as a result. I will also have the ability to move it around and edit outside etc... which I can't easily do now with two other monitors all connected up etc... Email, office and everything else can be on the laptop.

With your laptop, blow away the hard drive. I don't mean give it a defrag or a re-install of windows - throw it out completely and get yourself a Solid State drive. Then pull the back off your laptop and give the fan a good blow and get rid of the dust.
You be back up guns blazing before you know it

So it will happen.
I may install Windows 10 on it, but since I'm only using it for photoshop and nothing else, I won't really need to deal with the OS that much hopefully.

Re: Apple Music
Well, yep. I have bought a SSD for it, a 512GB but it is currently the second disk. I want to make it the primary OS disk but that will require a full image backup before I blow it away and rebuild entirely. But I need to keep working at the same time etc...
So it will happen.
Yep, I agree. This iMac has the 5K retina and can run a second monitor at almost the same resolution. No other laptop or all-in-one can do that yet from my research for a great deal cheaper, so as much as it pains me to pay the extra, I think it will produce the goods if it lasts a good few years.

If you have the OS and Apps running off the SSD you'll notice a blistering speed difference. I do find SSD's tending to eat themselves a bit more. Not sure why with the lack of moving parts. But if you've got the backup going well it shouldn't be an issue.
