Default Anyone stopped over in Bangkok?

Hello again,

Still umming and ahhing about who to book my flights with but Thai Airways have a ridiculously good deal on at the moment so looks like we'll be flying with them, business class in Nov with our little boy - who'll be 9 months old by then.

We will probably just have a rest at a transit hotel on the way out but we'd like to see Bangkok on the way back if we can. Anone have any expereince of taking children there (particularly very little ones)?

Any recommendations on places to stay/things to do would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Em

Went to Thailand in April for the 1st time, loved Bangkok, stayed at the Pathumwan Princess, which was very good, great location as you can walk directly from the hotel into a shopping mall and carry on through and get on the skytrain thingy which was really usefull.
We dont have any kids so cant offer anything in that regard, but for somewhere fantastic to eat try the vertigo restaurant, outside on top of the Banyan Tree Hotel, something like 65 floors up
For the best trip ever, go on the day tour out to Kanchanaburi, see the river kwai etc and end up at the tiger temple where you get to play with tigers! a fantastic experience.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for that. Did you think it was clean? I've heard it is rather grubby!

Not as clean as somewhere like Singapore (or Perth ) but we didnt really think twice about it, all the shopping malls, restaurants, hotels etc were as good as you'd find anywhere else, walking around some of the streets with market like areas I guess you could say were a bit dirty, but nothing major. It was quite hot so you dont really have much reason to be out in these areas, the sky train is A/C and the best way around, if your on foot then you tend to go through interconnecting malls so dont go outside, taxi's are cheap (the drivers are nutters so be warned)
I guess like any major city in Asia you are always going to find areas of poverty if you look hard enough, but in the main areas we had no problems and thought is was a great city. We'll be going back

All the middling-and-up hotels are fine. I always stay at the Dusit Thani and not because it's within an easy stroll of Patpng either!
