We have been getting quotes for shipping our furniture when I noticed a thread on here which mentioned arranging shipping yourself. I have now had a quote for £1450 for a 20ft container - considerably less than the £3.5-4k the removal people have quoted. Anyone done this? What about quarrantine etc??
Any help would be much appreciated. Need to save as much as we can.

I thought you ment putting yourselves in the container!
Sorry, there was a thread on it but the search function is a bit intermittent at the moment.
Hope someone can help though. xx

Got to agree, it does look good and takes less time than I expected! I've got a good friend who can't fly due to a medical condition and she thought it would take months to go by boat so I will forward this link to her. I was joking about sending the kids by boat whilst we flew! lol! I'm not really evil! Well not all the time anyway... If you do go by boat, post about your experience on here - it'll be really interesting to hear how you get on. Sam
