Default Anyone got a region free DVD player?

I need to buy a new DVD player as the kids are now getting region 4 DVDs and we already have a load of region 2 (Europe) ones.. so instead of having our old UK one and the new Aussie one side by side, I thought I'd just go and buy one that does all the regions..

Anyone got any recommendations.. had a look online and its all pretty techie for me.. I just want a DVD player that plays all regions? or is that not normal?

Ta in advance

for the kids , Audiosonic cheap kmart special $30-$50 . ours said region 4 but plays all.

If not take it back, kmart should take back no worries.

thanks to our enlightened government in australia it is illegal to sell DVD's players that are region coded - google it - its true.

It is considered a restrictive trade practice (nuts 'eh)

We have a few, Panasonic is ok Conia and some other one. The cheaper the DVD player the more likely its multizone. Just ask at The Good Guys or Clive Peters.

The Panasonic one we have is a hard drive recorder and dvd player and you just put in the code you want.

All my DVDs are from US or Uk so I need one.

whoa! hangon, I read that wrongly I think?

So, in a nutshell, all DVD players SHOULD play any region?

Yes it is illegal to sell them but most DVD players sold in Australia now come with a code to make it DVD region free.

My toshiba came with a little card witch had instructions which informed me to type a code in on the remote control.

if you type your existing UK dvd player model number into google with "region unlock code" you should be able to find instructions.

Hmmm haven't made the same ruling on Bluray though have they? At least not yet.
Region free BRs have to be done by changing a chip in most units.

You dont need an operating manual - just find your model number and follow the instructions they give you. Usually inputting a code with your remote and bingo you are region free! I've done several and it's easy as pie for LG anyway.
