There will be as much Banter about being a 'pom' in Aus, as Aussies receive in the UK, and being an Aussie in the UK I know all about this!

I think nearly every day on the radio or the television I hear someone trying to do a very dodgy Australian accent, and if it's not on the radio or television I get it in work.

It's never anything nasty and I think the same can be said for Brits in Aus really.

No real problems, though the only time i ever felt some tension was when England won the RWC in 03, but that was mainly light hearted and understandable!! :)

We're going through a phase, 2.5 years after moving to this village where all of a sudden we're making a whole new batch of Australian mates. It's like buses, you wait awhile, then a few come at once.

They're interesting too. This guy I met today builds 1930s custom antique cars from his shed and exports them all over the place, with callers from Germany and all sorts of places. Amazing bloke. We almost sat down to watch an old DVD half way through dinner that came up in conversation much to our wive's amusement. By the end of dinner we were gassing away like we'd known each other for years. My wife adores his wife so its win win and even our daughters seem to get on the little beauties. And (!) they've given me access to their block where loads of trees have fallen to collect firewood. (Thankyou!!)

I tell you what, you wouldn't be dead for quids in this village.

Message to the disillusioned, it's either you, or you're living with people that are just not that nice.(!)

Like most places in the world in my experience, the Brits are highly respected.

Ditto Ozzidoc's comments earlier - this doesn't make it all OK. Aussies (like Brits) can still have an appalling attitude to non-Anglo-Saxons.
