A window fell from Riparian Towers down beside Eagle Quay this morning. Luckily it happened at 0230 when no-one was going about. Very scarey but when I do a search on the internet it seems this has happened at least 3 times since November 2007. Wow. What's happened to Australian safety standards?http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/quee...0827-f00l.html

I know its a dangerous thing but 3 times since 2007 doesn't really mean that people are dodging falling windows all over the place. I wonder what the statistics are of this happening in similar cities with high rise buildings? I am too lazy to look it up though. I am sure if we wait long enough a friendly statto type person will let us know...........

It must be that time of year for these things...
20th August 2009
These things don't seem to hurt people even when they are standing directly underneath, as in the London example.

City workers had a narrow escape yesterday when a giant plate glass window fell 17 storeys, shattering on the street below.
The 15ft high pane just missed office workers enjoying an early lunch and a group of people standing at a bus stop on Threadneedle Street in the heart of London's financial district.
