I worked and studied in London for a number of years before returning home to Australia.
After arriving home in Geelong, friends got in touch to take me out for a few welcome home drinks. Round nine am the morning after, my mother stormed into my room, ripped the covers from the bed, shot the blind upwards and, wagging an admonishing finger at me, spluttered indignantly...
'I'll have you know young lady, that you woke me up when you came home drunk at four o'clock this morning!' And with that she stamped out, slamming the bedroom door.
And there's me thinking... 'Couldn't have been me Mum. I didn't get in till seven.'
