I don't know the system here but in the UK at the end of a divorce you are wise to do a Consent Order (many people fail to do these). This usually stops any future claims against each other - a divorce doesn;t do that. this document goes before a judge for approval - you don't have to attend
I will add that a friend of mine here in Australia has just been stung for the very same thing - settled on divorce - no consent order - within 2 years she had inherited - he came back for more. |

If neither party obtains a Consent Order, then Court proceedings can only be started up until 12 months after the date of the divorce and asset value and financial situation will be considered at the time of the Court proceedings, not at the time of separation. |
